New Provincial & Council for SMSM 2011

Setting out and setting out again...

A new Provincial and Council for the Province of the South Pacific took office on January 1, 2011.

Sister Etevise Ioane, smsm, has been appointed Provincial  Superior of the Province of the South Pacific, and began her four year term on 1 January 2011.   The Province of the South Pacific includes smsm communities in the five sectors of  Philippines (Mindanao), Tonga, Samoa, Fiji and New Zealand.

Sister Etevise is assisted by three councilors:  Sister Malia Elisapeta Ma ‘asi ( assistant provincial ), Sister Tupou Sesilia Tonga ( provincial secretary), and Sister Catherine Jones.

In each of the sectors, the sisters live in international communities at the service of missionary priorities of the local church:  education, pastoral and social services, health ministry, adult faith formation, interfaith relations.

The interprovincial novitiate for the three English-speaking provinces of the Congregation is in Manurewa, Auckland. At present there are four novices - from Tonga, New Zealand, Bangladesh and the Philippines.   Sisters Colleen Williams,  Malia Elisapeta Ma’asi and Joan Bernich are the formation team, and deeply appreciate the presence of the Marist Community at St Anne’s parish, Manurewa.
