New rector for Holy Cross diocesan seminary in Auckland. Msgr Peter Jeffrey from Australia will take up the position at the end of January. The appointment was made by the Vatican’s Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples in December 2011. Msgr Jeffrey will take over from Fr Philip Handforth.

Update on the the damage to the O'Connell window reported in the september MM. A photo from inside the church shows some gaping holes in the stained glass. The earthquake recovery Coordinator for the Diocese is Matt O'Connell, ironically the great great grandson of the donor of the window

The new English translation of the Mass has been delayed in New Zealand by a printing error which prevented the books laying flat on the altar. The reprint will take time and the books will be available sometime in 2012
